Sr Director Food Quality & Safety
Job Information: Are you a seasoned leader in food safety and quality, eager to champion excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing setting? We’re seeking a Senior Director, Food Safety and Quality to oversee all facets of our food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
In this pivotal senior leadership position, you’ll collaborate with operations and executive teams to shape the strategic vision for quality and safety while managing daily operations across multiple facilities. You’ll be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring we surpass customer, regulatory, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and enhance all food safety and quality programs, including FSMA, HACCP, SQF, GMPs, allergen management, sanitation protocols, and environmental monitoring.
Act as the primary SQF, PCQI, FDQI, and HACCP expert, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, Kosher, Halal, and other regulations.
Ensure consistent, high-quality production through robust SOPs, verification/validation processes, traceability systems, internal audits, preventative controls, and employee training.
Mentor and lead a dedicated team, fostering a culture of integrity, learning, and excellence in quality and safety.
Collaborate with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to align on goals and drive efficiency.
Work with leadership to refine systems based on performance data, regulatory requirements, and customer insights.
Manage customer complaint resolution, conduct root cause analyses, and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure the quality of raw materials and packaging.
Serve as the primary contact for third-party, customer, and regulatory audits.
Drive continuous improvement using methodologies like SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean principles.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
10+ years of experience in food manufacturing quality roles, including 5+ years in leadership.
Certifications as an SQF Practitioner, HACCP, PCQI, and FDQI.
Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations in U.S. and Canadian markets.
Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Experience with fermented, acidified, shelf-stable products, oils, or flavors is a plus but not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP and QA software is preferred.
Bonus: Bilingual in Spanish/English.
